Every litre from Kenton Pure Water passes through three purification stages, and our water is independently lab-tested.
Reverse osmosis
Water is pushed through a very fine membrane that removes dissolved salts, metals and other impurities.
Ozonation
Ozone, a strong natural oxidiser, disinfects the purified water and breaks down remaining organic matter.
UV light
Ultraviolet light gives a final disinfection step before the water reaches the dispenser.
Independently lab-tested
Our water is tested by an independent laboratory. The latest test certificate is available to view in store during staffed hours.
Why Kenton residents refill
Kenton-on-Sea's municipal water is a blend of desalinated water from a reverse osmosis plant and water from the local Diaz Aquifer, plus rainwater tanks. Supply has been interrupted by plant breakdowns and pipeline leaks, and during 2025 parts of Kenton and Bushman's River Mouth had water for only part of the day.
Our Water ATM runs independently, 24 hours a day, so you always have access to purified drinking water.

How is the water purified?

Is Kenton-on-Sea tap water safe to drink?
Kenton's municipal water comes from a reverse osmosis plant and a local aquifer, and supply has been interrupted by outages in recent years. If you prefer certainty, our water is purified by reverse osmosis, then treated with ozone and UV light, and is independently lab-tested.
